Refund and cancellation policy
How the free trial, renewals, cancelling and refunds work for BriefMia’s paid plans.
Last updated
The short version
- 14-day free trial, with no card needed and nothing charged when it ends.
- Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus tax where required.
- Cancel any time in Settings › Plan & billing and keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- No refunds for partial periods, except for our mistakes, such as a double charge, or where the law requires.
- We give at least 30 days’ notice of a price change.

The free trial
- A new account starts with a 14-day free trial of Pro, counted from the day you create it.
- No card is needed, and nothing is charged when the trial ends. To keep going, you choose a plan.
Prices, billing and renewal
- Prices are listed on our pricing page in Canadian dollars (CAD). Before you pay, you see the plan, the price, what is included and how often you will be charged.
- Plans are billed monthly or, where offered, yearly, at the start of each period. A plan renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price in force then, until you cancel.
- Sales tax, such as HST, is added where the law requires it and shown before you pay.
- Payments are handled by our payment processor. Your card details are held by the processor, never by BriefMia.
Cancelling
- You can cancel at any time in Settings › Plan & billing, or by writing to from the address on your account.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
- Cancelling does not delete your account or your data. You can download or delete them at any time in Settings › Account.
Refunds
Payments are not refundable for partial periods or unused time, including when you cancel partway through a monthly or yearly period. We will refund you:
- if we made a mistake, such as charging you twice, charging the wrong amount or charging you after you cancelled. We refund the mistaken charge in full;
- if we remove something significant that you pay for, a pro-rated amount where it is fair, as our terms describe;
- if we stop offering BriefMia altogether, any unused prepaid period;
- wherever the law requires a refund.
To ask for a refund, write to from the address on your account, with the date and amount of the charge. Refunds go back to the original payment method; how long they take to appear depends on your bank or card issuer.
Price changes
We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change affects your plan. The new price applies from your next renewal after that notice, so you can cancel before it applies.
When a trial or plan ends
- If your trial ends without a plan, or a cancelled plan reaches the end of its period, the app pauses until you choose a plan.
- If a renewal payment fails, you keep full access for 7 days while you update your payment details. If it is not fixed by then, the app pauses until you do.
- While the app is paused your data is kept, and you can still reach Settings › Plan & billing, and download or delete your data in Settings › Account.
Your rights under consumer law
Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under consumer protection law where you live. In Ontario this includes the Consumer Protection Act, which in some cases lets you cancel an online agreement and get a refund. Where the law gives you more than this policy does, the law applies.
